About Liberty City Church of Christ
What Do We Believe?

Thank you for asking. There is simply not enough room in cyber space for us to explain all the doctrinal teachings of the Lord's Church on one webpage nor address every wind of doctrine plus answer every theological question each reader of our website might have on their minds. However, we will do our best to explain and express to you our sincere understanding of what we believe it means to be a true worshipper "in spirit and in truth," according to the scriptures, which is our final authority on spiritual matters of faith.

Let’s get started. We speak only where and what the Bible speaks. By doing this, we keep it simple. We offer no tricks, gimmicks, extra creeds, or amendments to share our faith. We are strong bible believing people who love God and His Word that is revealed by the prophets of old, apostles, and Jesus personally. We use the bible exclusively as the final source for what we believe and what we do.
1 Corinthians 2:13, Galatians 1:6-12, Timothy 3:10-17,  2 Timothy 4:1-4.

What Do We Believe About Baptism?

The Liberty Church of Christ proudly believes there is but one Lord, one Faith and one Baptism. While unpopular, we firmly believe and follow the scriptures that teach, “Baptism is for the remission of sins."  Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:38, Romans 6:3-9, Galatians 3:26-29

What Do We Believe About The Trinity?

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are truly one according to the scriptures. We believe in Mary and the virgin birth. However, we do not believe that we should pray through or to Mary. She was a blessed woman among women; however, Jesus once said in Matthew “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers? Pointing to his disciples, he said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers.’ For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”(NIV)  Matthew 12:46-50, Matthew 3:13-17

Do We Believe in the Second Coming of Jesus?

Yes! We believe Jesus is coming back again to do two things, 1) He is coming back for His Church to take home and 2) He is coming back to judge every nation. While some may not believe in Jesus and others may only believe He was a prophet, we believe He is the true Son of God with all Power in Heaven and in Earth. He is the Head of the Church, which is His bride. He built it with His own blood, sweat, and tears. He represents the greatest love known to mankind and yet they killed Him. However, through His death came great victory and power.  Our God raised Him up from the dead to live forever more and to prepare a place for all obedient believers.

In the meantime, while we are waiting, we believe it is wise to learn what God’s expectation is of true believers now and later. We believe we need to follow biblical examples of conversion. We need to learn how to love God by loving one another with a pure heart.

We need to get back to preaching and teaching sound doctrine from the Word of God. We need to begin now and strive continuously to walk in holiness in preparation for our life after death. We need to understand the words humility and obedience, even to the point of death, like Jesus on the cross. There is nothing more valuable than our souls. Do not sell it for fortune, fame, or worldly gain. You and your soul are priceless. That is why He is coming back for those who believe and obey His word.

What Do We Believe About Communion?

Yes! We believe in the sweet fellowship and communion of the saints every first day of the week according to the example in the bible.  Just as we assemble every week, take collection every week, preach every week, teach every week, sing every week, observe and remember His death, burial, and resurrection every week, we believe it is imperative that we take communion weekly because He asked that we do this in remembrance of Him. As a result, we love to take communion as part of our praise and worship to Him.  Matthew 26:26-29, Mark 14:22-25, 1 Corinthians11:23-30

Is It True That We Only Sing With Our Voices Without Any Instruments?

Yes, it is true. We are not ashamed to say we sing Acappella in worship. It is so awesome!! ! Paul & Silas broke out a hymn.. Then at midnight, they broke out of jail. We break out and sing to the top of our voices because we love the Lord because He helped us also break away from a life of bondage in sin. To us it is something to sing and shout about. We all love to praise his name together  as one.  Ephesians 5:18-20, Colossians 3:16-17

What Else Do We Believe?

We believe a Christian ought to be pleasant and peaceable. We believe one should not curse, nor disrespect one another. We believe one should practice loving and forgiving one another, including hurtful relationships that causes deep wounds. We believe one should obey the laws of the land and that children should obey their parents. We also believe Christians should have a clean sense of good humor and work to eliminate evil thoughts and sinful behavior. We believe a child of God should have joy in their hearts and a forgiving and loving spirit that shows how God’s grace and mercy has truly benefited and changed their lives more than words can express. That is the catalyst for  us to demonstrate our love towards others.

We believe a Christian should be a person who strives for being the best at whatever they do, because they want to respect and honor God. We should look for ways to bless others because of how we have been blessed regardless of our financial and/or educational status. We are one in Christ Jesus and part of one family longing to go home to be with our savior. We are thankful and humble people. We simply love the Lord so much and are so thankful for all He has done that  we just want to tell the world about this amazing man called Jesus and how good God has been to us through Him.

Finally, we believe in Heaven as well as Hell. Therefore we believe in eternal life. The list could go on & on, but we wanted to share some basic essentials about who we are and what we believe. We hope you have been touched by our hearts and now have a taste of our savoring passion for serving God according to the scriptures to the best of our ability.  Luke16:19-31, Matthew 10:28, Philippians 1:21-24, 2 Peter 1:13-15, Revelation 7:9-17, Revelation 20:13-15, Revelation 20

The main thing is for you to meet Christ and embrace His lessons in life through the teaching & preaching of the Word. Allow Him to justify you (which is to save you), through your obedience and submission to His word. Then, let Him sanctify you (cleansing you day by day). Then one day, He will present you before His Father/our Father, and He will glorify you. WOW! What a glorious day that will be.
